Governor vetoes election integrity bill

Today, Gov. Laura Kelly vetoed Senate Bill 4 designed to protect election integrity. The bill required elections officials to stop accepting ballots at 7 p.m. on election day rather than the three-day grace period.

House leadership responded with a vow to override the veto.

“We eagerly anticipate overriding the governor’s misguided veto to safeguard our elections and ensure quick, reliable outcomes. By setting a firm election-day deadline, we reaffirm Kansans’ trust in our elections,” the release stated and included House Majority Leader Chris Croft, Speaker Pro Tem Blake Carpenter and Speaker of the House Dan Hawkins.
