TOPEKA, KS – Americans for Prosperity-Kansas (AFP-KS) criticized Democratic Governor Laura Kelly’s appointment of Larkin Walsh to the Kansas Supreme Court today, urging Kansans to vote in favor of an amendment to the state constitution to scrap the judicial nomination process in favor of direct election of judges.

Elizabeth Patton, AFP-KS state director, made the following statement:

“Gov. Kelly’s appointment of yet another liberal progressiveto the Kansas Supreme Court will be her last. AFP-KS is confident that Kansans will enact this ballot measure to ensure that impartiality and transparency are the bedrock of our state’s judicial system.

“Kansans can no longer tolerate this cabal of unelected progressive attorneys keeping themselves in control of the judicial branch.

“Our army of grassroots activists will maintain a constant presence in communities across our state this year to make sure that this appointment is the final nail in the coffin of this outdated and elitist nominating system.”
