Planned Parenthood’s newest annual report shows the pro-abortion organization facilitated a record number of abortions, over 402,000, and received more taxpayer funding than ever before.
Planned Parenthood’s 2023-24 report says it provided 402,200 abortions during that time period, while receiving $800 million of taxpayer funding, or over $2 million daily.
“For yet another year, pregnant women seeking help at Planned Parenthood are sold an abortion 97% of the time, while prenatal services, miscarriage care and adoption referrals make up a minuscule minority of the options they offer. Meanwhile their priorities include their assault on parental rights, transgender treatments, and political spending to defeat Republicans,” Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America said in a statement reacting to the report.

“This report heightens the urgency to defund Big Abortion and stop forcing taxpayers to fund an industry that destroys unborn lives and preys on women and girls.”
Planned Parenthood touted its ability to give patients abortion services despite the existence of abortion restrictions in almost 20 states. The states enacted abortion restrictions following the Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade and sending the question of abortion legalization back to states.
Pro-life Republicans have long sought to defund Planned Parenthood to prevent taxpayer dollars from funding abortions. With the congressional GOP still sorting through its budget reconciliation package, a handful of moderate House Republicans pushed back against defunding Planned Parenthood during a meeting last week, according to NOTUS.
GOP Representatives Mike Lawler (N.Y.), Jen Kiggans (Va.) and Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.), all three of whom hold toss-up seats, were among the moderates to make known their opposition to cutting off taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood. The specific proposal would prevent the abortion group from receiving Medicaid reimbursements for its non-abortion services. The Hyde Amendment already prohibits federal funding for abortion services, but pro-lifers believe the taxpayer funding Planned Parenthood receives still fuels the abortion industry.
President Donald Trump voiced optimism about getting a deal done last week when National Review‘s Audrey Fahlberg asked him about the emerging GOP rift on defunding Planned Parenthood.
“I don’t know yet. I have to see because you’re just telling me that for the first time,” Trump said in the Oval Office. “We’ll work something out.”
SBA Pro-Life has urged Republican lawmakers to follow through on defunding the abortion industry in the “big beautiful bill” congressional Republicans are sorting out. Trump himself took a moderate position on abortion during his 2024 presidential campaign, helping him to mitigate Democratic attacks and defeat former Vice President Kamala Harris convincingly.
