Soros, others spend big to keep U.S. voting requirements loose

A bill that would institute uniform voting security measures for federal elections in each state may be introduced before the Rules Committee in the U.S. Congress this week, but it’s had to climb over mountains of cash contributed to more than 70 opponent groups by George Soros and others seeking to keep loose reins on U.S. voting.

In January Congressman Chip Roy (R, TX-21) introduced H.R. 22, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to protect the integrity of US elections. The text of the bill is online here. Issues of voter integrity have surged in the country due to irregularities in the 2020 election, and the influx of millions of illegal immigrants during the Biden Administration.

University of Michigan online Securing Digital Democracy class teaches one should approach all phases of an election with a “security mindset.” Checks and balances should be included in all steps of an election.

Many voters assume necessary checks and balances are in place for verifying voters, including citizenship, when the reality is improvements are needed.

WASHINGTON — Last Friday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) reintroduced the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to protect U.S. elections (H.R. 22, 119th Congress).

Millions of illegal aliens remain in our country illegally and many have been given the opportunity to register to vote in federal elections. The SAVE Act would thwart Democrat efforts to cement one-party rule by upholding and strengthening current law that permits only U.S. citizens to vote in Federal elections. …

The SAVE Act would protect and preserve the right of American citizens to vote by:

  • Requiring states to obtain proof of citizenship – in person – before registering an individual to vote for a Federal election.
  • Requiring states to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls, while giving them necessary tools to do so.

This H.R. 22 SAVE Act will likely be introduced in Congress before the Rules Committee this week. The text of the bill is online here.

Here is Rep. Roy’s one-page summary of the SAVE Act:

Many non-citizens granted Social Security Numbers

On Sunday night at a live-streamed town hall in Green Bay, WI, Elon Musk, senior advisor to President Trump, discussed a chart showing over 3 million social security numbers were assigned to non-citizens during government fiscal years 2023 and 2024 when President Biden refused to limit illegal immigration.

Chart of Non-Citizen Social Security Numbers Issues from FY2021-through partial FY2025 discussed by Antonio Gracias and Elon Musk on Sunday evening in Green Bay, WI.

DOGE executive Antonio Gracias told Musk the discovery of millions of Social Security Numbers given to non-citizens was found by accident when they were looking for fraud.

Gracias explained how the Social Security Administration sent SSNs to non-citizens without any ID or interview when they applied for a work document.

Gracias said the “defaults in the system” had been set by the Biden administration for “max inclusion” and “max pay” for all benefits for non-citizens.

Gracias said they looked at a sample of the non-citizens receiving SSNs and found some had registered to vote — and some did vote. Gracias said those non-citizens who had voted were referred for prosecution.

The SAVE Act would be a new check and balance to prevent such registrations by non-citizens by simply verifying citizenship documentation.

Some claim that we already have laws banning non-citizens from voting, so no new laws are needed. But, we have have speed limit laws and people still exceed speed limits. Do we tell the highway patrol that the signs are enough for people to comply with speed limits, so no enforcement is necessary?

Soros nonprofit-funded organizations opposing SAVE Act

Read five-page letter opposing the SAVE Act by The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights released on Friday.

On Friday, likely in anticipation of H.R. 22 being introduced this week,  The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights issued a five-page letter opposing HR 22, the SAVE Act.

The letter lists 112 progressive organizations opposing the Act.

Over one-fourth of the Leadership Conference organizations opposing the SAVE Act have received funding from George Soros’ nonprofits for years. These 31 progressive organizations have received 185 Soros-funded grants from 2016 through 2023 that total $136 million.

In fact, the Leadership Conference itself has received 13 grants totaling $7.7 million of Soros’ money.

Here is the list of these 31 Soros-funded organizations opposing the SAVE Act, which also shows additional funding from other progressive sources:

An additional 23 progressive organizations listed by the Leadership Conference for opposing the SAVE Act received funding from “dark money,” progressive nonprofits, unions, and progressive individuals.

Notes

Why are progressive organizations, often funded by Soros, insistent on tilting the electoral playing field? We should all want fair elections.
