Rebecca Schmoe’s Democrat opponent in the Kansas Legislature’s 59th District lamented to the local radio station in Ottawa when he filed for election earlier this year that he’s voted in numerous elections, but nothing ever seems to happen.
Apparently he hasn’t been voting in Kansas.
Looking back over the past two legislative sessions since Schmoe and a handful of other members of the Kansas House firmed up it’s supermajority and more importantly bolstered it’s level of morale conviction on critical issues in Kansas, that statement begs the question of just who and what Schmoe’s opponent has been voting for?
Because one simply cannot possess even a rudimentary grasp of the facts of the last two legislative sessions and say that nothing has happened. Indeed much has happened, much of it extremely important, and voters in the 59th District should send Schmoe back to Topeka this November to continue that work.
SCHMOE ENDORSED BY SECOND AMENDMENT FOUNDATION
State legislators with guts and conviction will be all the more important in red states like Kansas, particularly, God forbid, if Kamala Harris wins the presidency. Those legislatures will be the last line of defense to protect the citizenry from the progressive socialist intentions that will be presented the same way they’ve been pressed on the American public since Joe Biden took office in 2021.
But even as things looked bleak on the national front, Republicans in Kansas pursued initiatives that reflected the moral values of the state and the common sense of basic logic. Schmoe voted with majorities to give tax money back to Kansans, even over Governor Laura Kelly’s continued refusals; they voted to give a right to life to babies who survive botched abortions; they approved work requirements for able-bodied folks on food stamps, in 2023 they enacted what were once thought to be the default protections to keep men from competing against women in women’s sports.
Right-thinking legislators have held off a full court press by the governor who’s bent on a massive cost expansion of the state’s Medicaid program to give more taxpayer-funded medical care to able-bodied individuals. As 40-year record price hikes continue to torpedo family budgets across the Sunflower State, giving Kansas residents back more of their tax money will be a priority in the coming session – particularly property taxes – and Schmoe will be on the right side of that argument again.
As progressive forces at work nationwide seek to expand the massive power of government and drain away income, freedom and liberty from the populace, legislators like Rebecca Schmoe become all that stands between us and tyrannical socialist incompetence. Let’s keep her in the Kansas Legislature.
