Pitches and Submissions
We’re looking for original opinions and research — not tired rehashes of worn-out topics or crazy tinfoil hat rants.

The Kansas Informer covers politics, economics, culture, science, education and public policy involving or influencing Kansas. We approach topics from a broad-minded conservative perspective which overall supports the founding principles of American democracy.
Save yourself some time. We prefer you pitch your story or OpEd piece to us first with a paragraph or two explaining your idea and outlining its major points. We can accept full manuscripts, but they take time to read and if we don’t fall in love in the first couple sentences, well…
Tell us about you. Have you written for publication before? If you live in Kansas, tell us where, or what your connection is to the state. Explain what relevant connection you have to the topic you’re pitching.
Don’t get too excited yet. Accepting your pitch doesn’t necessarily mean your article will be published; the rest of the enchilada has to be well-crafted and interesting. If we edit your piece we’ll send it back to you for your approval with explanations for our changes or requests for additional work from you to fill in holes.
Compensation. All submissions accepted by The Kansas Informer are uncompensated.
We don’t accept payment to run content and we don’t exchange links.
If you have any potential conflict of interest with your subject, tell us up front.
The Kansas Informer allows free use of its content to other media with attribution. If your submission is accepted, you acknowledge that your work may appear elsewhere and that as such you relinquish all rights to that work.
If your submission is accepted, you will provide a photo headshot and a few lines of bio information that will be published with your piece.
Receipt of your submission signifies you acknowledge and accept the above draconian dicta.
